The 2025 tournament, featuring 1,061 athletes representing 24 affiliated units — including 22 departments, one branch campus, and the Experimental High School — is set to deliver thrilling, high-energy matches that embody the spirit of sportsmanship and excellence among the university’s undergraduate and high school students.
Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, Vice President of the University and Head of the Tournament Organizing Committee, emphasized in his remarks: “The Sports Tournament is not only a platform for physical training but also an opportunity for students to interact, learn from one another, and strengthen their spirit of solidarity, thereby promoting a healthy and dynamic lifestyle.” The Vice President also expressed his hope that all Youth Union members, along with undergraduate and high school students of HCMUE, would choose a sport and begin training immediately, following the motto: “Strong for studying, training, building, and defending the nation.” He further emphasized that regular and consistent practice of sports is essential. This, he noted, also concretely reflects the “Good Physical Training” criterion in the “Students with 3 Good Criteria” (for high school students) and “Students with 5 Good Criteria” (for undergraduates) movement.
Dr. Cao Anh Tuan delivered the opening speech and provided key guidance to officially launch the tournament.
The tournament showcases seven sports: futsal, volleyball, badminton, tug-of-war, sack race, chess, and swimming—with a total of 19 categories. These widely enjoyed disciplines have attracted eager participation from both high school and undergraduate students, contributing to a dynamic and energetic competition. Significantly, the matches are taking place not only in the Sports Hall but also across multiple athletic facilities on campus, ensuring a professional and well-equipped setting for the athletes.
Also, this year competitions garnered enthusiastic support from nearly 15,000 students throughout HCMUE. This widespread participation highlights the university’s lively sports culture and helps promote a dynamic, well-rounded academic environment.
With meticulous preparation by the Organizing Committee and the unwavering commitment of the athletes, the 2025 HCMUE Sports Tournament for Undergraduate and High School Students is poised to be a resounding success, leaving a lasting impression on faculty and the entire campus community.
