On the morning of March 23, 2025, Ho Chi Minh City University of Education (HCMUE) campus buzzed with a strong sense of community and compassion as the Vietnam Family Mental Health Care Day was officially held. Centered around the theme “Journey of Connecting Love,” the event drew more than 300 attendees, including parents, students, and professionals in psychology and education.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Cao Anh Tuan, Vice President of HCMUE, emphasized:
“March 25 has become a significant annual milestone — a meaningful day for social work professionals nationwide. It is an opportunity to reflect on the noble values and deep humanitarian essence of this vital field, which carries the great mission of ‘serving people and building communities.’

Opening with the inspiring performance “Live Like Flowers”, the event set a heartfelt tone, conveying an uplifting message about empathy and the importance of sharing in life. Following that, the “Continuing the Journey of Passion” scholarship ceremony celebrated students for their exceptional perseverance in pursuing education despite personal hardships.

At the plenary session, HCMUE lecturer Dr. Giang Thien Vu provided an insightful overview of the current state of mental health in Vietnam. Real-life stories combined with professional perspectives offered participants valuable knowledge and practical tools for fostering a healthier living environment. Building on this foundation, three thematic breakout sessions were held, each focusing on a specific target group for more in-depth discussion:
For parents and caregivers: HCMUE former lecturer and educational psychology expert Dr. Nguyen Thi Bich Hong, along with social work specialist M.A. Dang Khanh An, provided useful insights into child psychology, evidence-based strategies for strengthening parent-child bonds, and effective approaches to fostering a positive and supportive family environment.
For adolescents aged 13 and above: Doctoral student and lecturer M.A. Nguyen Thi Ngoc Vui from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City, introduced the concept of the “5 Love Languages,” helping young people deepen self-awareness and enhance empathetic communication with family and peers.
For children aged 7 to 12: Social work specialist Tran Duy Hoa facilitated interactive activities that encouraged children to express their emotions and develop confidence in identifying and articulating their thoughts.

In addition, a range of community initiatives will be carried out throughout March and April, including social work skills workshops and charitable events, underscoring HCMUE’s dedication to promoting humanitarian values in the wider community.
